The March of Dimes Jonas Salk Health Leadership Awards recognizes Illinois healthcare leaders that show exemplary leadership in maternal and infant healthcare management, nursing, medicine, research and public health and community. Dr. Jonas Salk, with funding from the March of Dimes, was instrumental in developing the polio vaccine.
Nominees must have made significant contributions or have shown excellent leadership abilities in one or more areas. These include the delivery of high quality health care, health care education, community services, biomedical or health services research, and advocacy. Honorees will be selected by the Nominations Sub-Committee and the Advisory Council. The Awards will be presented at a luncheon on September 24, 2008.
