NCH's Response To Government Care Matters Implementation Plan, UK
Main Category: Pediatrics / Children's HealthArticle Date: 27 Mar 2008 - 2:00 PDT
Commenting on the Government's launch of the Care Matters Implementation Plan, Executive Director of Children's Services at NCH, Margaret Dillon said: "This far reaching plan has the potential to make a real difference to the lives of looked after children. Through the work we do at NCH we know just how important it is to ensure that opportunities, including educational attainment and support, are available to all - regardless of circumstances. We also understand the importance of preventative work with young people on the edge of care and their families.
As our evidence to the Children, Schools and Families Committee today makes clear, what we now need are the necessary resources and guarantees from those responsible for implementing this plan to ensure that these ambitious aspirations will be followed with concrete delivery. We have the opportunity to transform the lives of young people in care; we must not let it pass us by."
