Springer and the Society for Research on the Cerebellum (SRC) will partner to publish the journal with effect from Volume 7, March 2008. The journal represents a significant and original addition to Springer's neuroscience portfolio.

The Cerebellum is a quarterly, international journal devoted to the science of the cerebellum and its role in ataxia and other medical disorders. Areas of particular interest include fundamental neurosciences (including molecular and cellular biology), behavioral neurosciences and neurochemistry, genetics, fundamental and clinical neurophysiology, neurology and neuropathology, cognition and neuroimaging.

Editor-in-Chief Mario Manto of the Université Libre de Bruxelles said, "The cerebellum contains more neurons than all the other regions of the brain. As a result of the ageing population, diseases associated with cerebellar dysfunction are becoming more widespread. The Cerebellum offers a forum for the vast amount of scientific research being done in this area. Springer's publishing expertise will help to further enhance the journal's profile and availability."

Ann Avouris, Publishing Editor, Biomedical Sciences, at Springer, said, "Springer is pleased to welcome The Cerebellum to its neuroscience journals program. Our online information platform SpringerLink, with features such as Online First, Cross Reference Linking and Table of Content Alerts, will ensure that readers are kept fully up to date in this crucial and rapidly growing area of research."

The Cerebellum publishes reviews, original research, short communications, opinion and controversies, case studies, meeting reports and book reviews. Springer offers authors, editors and reviewers the use of a fully web-enabled online manuscript submission and review system. This system gives users the option of tracking the progress of the review process of manuscripts in real time. In addition, all authors, via the Springer Open Choice™ program, have the option of publishing their articles using the open access publishing model.
