informa Healthcare, one of the premier medical scientific publishers in the United States, will publish this week a complete bench-to- bedside guide to cancer vaccines in development.

Advances in translational research have made it possible for clinical researchers to customize cancer treatments to match a patient's specific needs. More recent developments have pushed customization of investigational treatment fast forward so that clinicians can today, using a theranostic approach, match a patient's DNA and molecular structures.

Cancer Vaccines: Challenges and Opportunities in Translation-informa Healthcare's latest addition to its successful Translational Medicine series-traces gaps, challenges, and difficulties encountered in the past, including hurdles associated with the translation of immunology research into clinical opportunities, while outlining potential solutions and strategies for success.

Cancer Vaccines: Challenges and Opportunities in Translation's perspective is unique in that it covers topics relevant to industry, translation and development - with an eye on science as well as improving patient care.

Autologous and 'off-the-shelf' approaches - such as cancer vaccines - promise to deliver faster recuperation periods and a decreased chance of re-occurrence of malignancies - both of which will forever alter the current standard of cancer care. As Drs. Bot and Obrocea, the book editors, state ".in this post-genomic era, it is time to translate this vast scientific information and expand the healthcare benefits by adding vaccines to the large arsenal of cancer therapy in the quest of continuing to improve on the treatment and quality of life of all cancer patients."

Cancer Vaccines: Challenges and Opportunities in Translation adapts all the latest scientific discoveries pertaining to the development and optimization process of cancer vaccines to clinical practice, making it an especially valuable resource for scientists, researchers, and clinicians worldwide.

This book is available from wholesalers, online retailers, book stores, as well as directly from informa Healthcare through www.crcpress.com.

Other titles in the series include:

Diabetes: Translating Research into Practice, 2008 Cancer Supportive Care: Advances in Therapeutic Strategies, 2008 Cancer Vaccines: Challenges and Opportunities in Translation, 2008 Melanoma: Translational Research and Emerging Therapies, 2008 Breast Cancer: Translational Therapeutic Strategies, 2007 Lung Cancer: Translational and Emerging Therapies, 2007 Multiple Myeloma: Translational and Emerging Therapies, 2007 Prostate Cancer: Translational and Emerging Therapies, 2006
