DePuy Spine, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, announced the launch of the VERTIGRAFT® VG1® CERVICAL ALLOGRAFT, an innovative bio-implant for anterior cervical fusion surgery designed to align with the spinal anatomy for maximum stability and freeze-dried for easy storage.

VG1 CERVICAL, co-developed by DePuy Spine and LifeNET Health®, is made of a single piece of high quality cortical bone that is freeze-dried for room temperature storage. Its trapezoidal design matches the anatomy of the cervical spine, stabilizing the implant by increasing the surface area. Its open central chamber allows surgeons to add graft material of their choice.

The new cervical bio-implant features a bulleted posterior edge to facilitate graft insertion and a textured surface for resistance to migration. Its seven-degree lordotic angle maintains proper alignment of the spine. VG1 Cervical is one of three Allograft solutions for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) procedures available through DePuy Spine and LifeNET Health.

"VG1 combines the quality of the VERTIGRAFT line of bio-implants with the resources of DePuy Spine's complete portfolio of cervical instruments and implants." said Ian Burgess, Worldwide VP of Research and Development for DePuy Spine. "DePuy Spine provides options ranging from rigid fixation to load-sharing implants, as well as instrumentation, that allow the surgeon to choose the right solution for each patient's condition."
