In response to the Government's launch of its £16m 'Family Pathfinder' programme which will offer intensive help and support to vulnerable families in 15 local areas, Clare Tickell, Chief Executive of NCH, the children's charity says: "This is a welcome initiative that shows a committed and sustained approach to helping vulnerable families."
"NCH's work with some of the most socially excluded families has proven that this family centred approach can turn lives around."
"By working in partnership with a number of local authorities, we have seen how supporting the needs of the whole family can dramatically improve family communication, strengthen relationships and reduce anti-social behaviour.
"This initiative should be seen as one of the many steps needed to tackle long term issues that face vulnerable families. NCH believes the funding should be part of a long term strategic objective by the Government to support children and young people and their families who are most in need."
