Accelerating the creation of new inhalable drug delivery devices, Cambridge Consultants (http://www.cambridgeconsultants.com) is announcing the licensing of a range of technology development tools at the Respiratory Drug Delivery Conference in Scottsdale, Ariz. The company's Gen-X series of technologies, from de-agglomeration for fine particle doses (FPD) to drug storage chamber piercing and evacuation techniques, draw on the scientific and engineering expertise of being involved in the development of more than 16 respiratory delivery devices over the past 15 years.

"In an industry where the time-to-market for inhalable dry powder drug delivery devices is often seven to 10 years, fast-tracking development with our proven Gen-X development platform can significantly reduce this timescale and the overall development risk." said Marek Myszko, business development manager, Drug Delivery at Cambridge Consultants. "A 40- to 60-percent reduction in time to market creates a significant competitive value and faster revenue to a company's bottom line in a market where generating market presence is particularly important."

The group of core Gen-X technologies being licensed by Cambridge Consultants include the technology to accurately pierce a foil blister, evacuate the blister in a repeatable manner, and drug de-agglomerate technologies to provide tailored device performance. These, coupled with Cambridge Consultants' proven expertise in the development of solutions to technical challenges such as dose indexing and human factors, provide a quick development path for new DPIs.

Cambridge Consultants is highlighting its Gen-X DPI technologies at the Respiratory Drug Delivery 2008 conference in Scottsdale, Ariz., from May 11-15.
