The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI)has announced that it will hold its 2009 Annual Scientific Sessions May 6-9, 2009, at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas. The focused, collegial interventional cardiology meeting will move to a late February or early March meeting time beginning in 2010.

"The 2009 SCAI Annual Scientific Sessions will be the premier interventional cardiology meeting of the spring for practicing interventional cardiologists," said Ziyad M. Hijazi, M.D., MPH, FSCAI, president of SCAI. "Our focused meeting will emphasize the latest scientific advances in coronary, peripheral and structural heart disease."

"SCAI has been known for its signature 'Best of the Best in Interventional Cardiology' meeting, and our more intimate, collegial format," said Bonnie H. Weiner, M.D., MSEC, MBA, FSCAI, immediate past president of SCAI. "We look forward to building on our strong 32-year tradition in 2009 and moving to an earlier meeting in 2010."

The 2009 meeting will feature current and cutting-edge interventional science, emphasizing evidence-based medicine and clinical trial data that interventionalists can translate into daily practice. The meeting will be chaired by Ted Feldman, M.D., FSCAI, past president of SCAI, director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Evanston Hospital and a professor of medicine at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. Dr. Feldman will be joined by a team of interventional cardiologists to develop an educational program featuring new clinical trials, case-based education and analysis of advances in coronary, vascular and peripheral diseases, as well as pediatric and structural heart disease.

"Our 2009 meeting will focus on the latest news and education that practicing interventional cardiologists can take back and apply to their daily practices," said Dr. Feldman. "The 2009 SCAI Annual Scientific Sessions will bring together the Society's traditional highly relevant analysis of the latest advances in interventional cardiology with updates from the forefront of clinical research. We expect the result will reflect the 32-year history of the meeting as the meeting for getting an unbiased, comprehensive update on the state-of-the-art in interventional cardiology."
