Extending British Crime Survey To Under 16s A Long Awaited Success, Says NCH, UK
Main Category: Pediatrics / Children's HealthArticle Date: 20 May 2008 - 2:00 PDT
Commenting on the extension of the British Crime Survey to include under 16s and the Home Office initiative to find design solutions to prevent young people from becoming victims of crime, Clare Tickell, Chief Executive of NCH, the Children's Charity said:
"From our work at NCH we know young people themselves often have the best ideas and solutions to deal with the difficulties they face around them. That is why involving them in this design initiative is not only sensible but crucial.
"NCH have long campaigned for the British Crime Survey to include the experiences of 11 -16 year olds. Only by knowing how they are being affected can we start addressing these issues and the government is to be congratulated for taking this forward. The key next step will be to ensure this new information is properly used to help improve the lives of young people."
