The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) adds a new biweekly newsletter to its electronic offerings today, with the launch of Cancer Research Update. This email-only publication spotlights the important work of scientists who study cancer prevention. It also analyzes the week's headline-making studies to place their results in a meaningful context.

"AICR's Cancer Research Update is exactly what its title says it is: a means for anyone who's interested in the hard science behind AICR's recommendations to keep informed about significant developments in this exciting field of study," said Glen Weldon, Head of Education at AICR. "We're proud to fund this research, and we want to share the vital work that's going on in labs and clinics across the country."

Those who subscribe to the AICR's free Cancer Research Update will receive a new issue in their inboxes every other Wednesday. Alongside profiles of researchers who investigate the effects of diet, physical activity and weight management on cancer risk, readers can keep up to date on breaking science news with brief summaries of noteworthy studies appearing in scientific journals - or the evening news.

Cancer Research Update joins AICR's two other electronic publications:

- The weekly Health-e-Recipe (Tuesdays) provides subscribers with practical yet innovative recipes that burst with flavor, color, texture - and good health. Each delicious recipe is developed in accordance with AICR's science-based guidelines and tested in AICR's test kitchen.

- The monthly AICR e.Newsletter (third Thursday of each month) is a comprehensive online resource for information on cancer prevention. Subscribers find novel ways to get more physical activity into their day alongside tips for preparing meals that bring AICR's cancer prevention message home. Each month, the AICR e.Newsletter arms readers with the science-based information they need to live and eat for lower cancer risk.

To subscribe to Cancer Research Update or any AICR e-publication, follow the link on the AICR homepage (http://www.aicr.org) or go directly to the e-publication subscription page: http://www.aicr.org/epubs.

The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) is the cancer charity that fosters research on the relationship of nutrition, physical activity and weight management to cancer risk, interprets the scientific literature and educates the public about the results. It has contributed more than $86 million for innovative research conducted at universities, hospitals and research centers across the country. AICR has published two landmark reports that interpret the accumulated research in the field, and is committed to a process of continuous review. AICR also provides a wide range of educational programs to help millions of Americans learn to make dietary changes for lower cancer risk. Its award-winning New American Plate program is presented in brochures, seminars and on its website, http://www.aicr.org. AICR is a member of the World Cancer Research Fund International.
