The City of Boston announced today, Wednesday, July 21st, 2004, that it has awarded to Canada's Total Care Pharmacy Ltd. (http://www.crossborderpharmacy.com) the contract to supply Canadian prescription drugs to Boston's 14,000 City employees and retirees. The city conducted a rigorous, competitive bidding process to identify the very best vendor available and chose Total Care Pharmacy of Alberta, Canada from among seven bidders. Total Care has entered into a contract with the city that requires the pharmacy to meet specific quality standards, procedural safeguards, and levels of customer service.
This latest achievement for Total Care Pharmacy is in addition to its earlier, ground breaking successes in securing agreements for the provision of Canadian prescription drugs to residents of the States of Minnesota and Wisconsin through those States' official websites.
The City of Boston recently announced its initiative to establish a voluntary program for current and former employees to obtain prescription medicines from Canada, where prescription drugs can cost as much as 80 percent less than they do in the United States.
Dave Robertson, President of Total Care Pharmacy ("TCP") says; "We were awarded this contract because of our established track record for providing safe and effective prescription medications. The City of Boston was very impressed after completing its due diligence in relation to this agreement. More and more, Americans are turning to Canada, and in particular to our pharmacy, via our website http://www.crossborderpharmacy.com to acquire safe and affordable prescription drugs".
Total Care Pharmacy is one of the original and one of the largest International Prescription Service ("IPS") pharmacy operations in Canada. Total Care Pharmacy is a founding and an active member of the Canadian International Pharmacy Association (CIPA) This organization requires, and ensures, that its members provide the highest standards of professionalism, safety and service to their customers.
All drugs dispensed by TCP have passed the rigorous standards, demands and tests imposed by Health Canada, the Canadian federal government department that has responsibility for providing safe and affordable prescription medication for Canadians.
Robertson adds: "From a technology perspective, Total Care Pharmacy uses the latest in technology to achieve and maintain four basic goals; confidentiality, integrity, accuracy and system stability and availability. Recently, Total Care Pharmacy completed installation of state of the art workflow management software which allows its staff, and its customers, to track in real time the progress of their prescription throughout the fulfillment process. This proprietary software provides significantly improved efficiencies in the prescription fulfillment process, as well as providing unparalleled customer service.
