ORLANDO, FL (UroToday.com) - This group from the National Cancer Institute manages a large number of patients with von Hippel Lindau (VHL) disease.

The current study examined 74 VHL patients who had one or more tumors >1.8 cm and had at least two previous imaging studies. Khurana and colleagues found that the larger the patient's tumor, the slower it grew.

They also report that tumors of patients with truncating VHL mutations grew faster than those of patients with non-truncating mutations.

These findings could certainly prove clinically quite relevant.

Presented by Kiranpreet Khurana, MD, Paul Albert, MD, Rabindra Gautam, MD, Peter Pinto, MD, W Marston Linehan, MD, Gennady Bratslavsky, MD, at the Annual Meeting of the American Urological Association (AUA) - May 17 - 22, 2008. Orange County Convention Center - Orlando, Florida, USA.
