Dr Tim Wreghitt has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for his work on public health virology.

Tim has been a Clinical Scientist in the Health Protection Agency and an Honorary Consultant Virologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital for 31 years. He is currently Regional Microbiologist for the East of England.

Tim has been awarded this honour in recognition of his national role in public health virology, such as setting up and coordinating the regional network for molecular testing for avian influenza in humans.

Tim said "I am delighted to have been honoured in this way and I accept the award on behalf of my wonderful team of colleagues in the Health Protection Agency and Addenbrooke's Hospital, without whom I could not have achieved these public health virology goals"

Tim lives in Sawston with his wife Kathryn and has two daughters Annabel and Zillah.
