Erickson Retirement Communities, one of the nation's leading developers of full-service retirement communities, has launched an innovative Brain Fitness Program ™ in two of its campuses. A total of three 8-week Brain Fitness Programs™ will be offered to residents of Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, and Monarch Landing in Naperville, Illinois. Following informational kickoffs in the two communities, a total of 177 residents signed up for just 72 openings, and the waiting lists continue to grow.

The Posit Science Brain Fitness Program™ is an auditory-based computer training program that improves memory and speed of processing. The program is based on the concept of brain plasticity - the brain's ability for physical and functional change. Posit Science Corporation, a leader in clinically validated brain health programs, works with leading collaborators from around the world, including Stanford, the University of California at San Francisco, Mayo Clinic and many more to build programs that are scientifically validated to enhance cognitive function.

Erickson offers its 21,000 residents nationwide the opportunity to live retirement to its fullest. Through a comprehensive, integrated system of services, technology, and research, residents are encouraged to remain involved, inspired, and engaged and to take measures to preserve and enhance their overall wellness.

"At Erickson, residents are engaged in a continuous quest for health information and for ideas on how to remain active, healthy, and independent," said Barbara Pilgram, Director of Mental Health and Wellness Programs. "We decided to introduce formalized cognitive fitness programs because we are committed to providing a lifestyle that offers unparalleled opportunities for successful aging, and are aware that memory loss is a key concern among mature adults. We chose to work with Posit Science because their Brain Fitness Program is supported by research data." "
