Continuing its mission to improve the quality of patient care, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. has named the finalists of the second annual Young Investigators Award. Sponsored by Toshiba through an unrestricted educational grant, the Young Investigators Award will be awarded to two physicians for their patient care research in the categories of clinical and technical cardiovascular CT.

The five finalists for the Young Investigators Award are:

This year's award recipients will be announced at the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) Annual Scientific Meeting in Orlando, July 17-20, 2008. Each recipient will receive $2,500 and have their manuscripts and abstracts published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, the official journal of the SCCT.

"Toshiba is very excited to continue recognizing physicians who are improving patient care through their research," said Doug Ryan, senior director, CT Business Unit, Toshiba. "We are proud to support this award, as it provides solutions for the increasingly important issue of patient care. As a leader in CT technology, Toshiba is committed to offering patients comfortable, safe and effective exams."

All finalists will receive an all expenses paid trip to the SCCT Annual Scientific Meeting. The manuscripts and presentations will be judged by an independent panel and the two winners will be recognized during an SCCT/Toshiba reception.
