Western Infirmary, part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in Scotland, has installed the first UK ACUSON S2000 ultrasound system from Siemens. It joins an existing Siemens Antares ultrasound system and will be used for abdominal, thyroid, testicular and renal transplant imaging.
The system delivers enhanced imaging quality and is ergonomically designed for ease of use. It also offers advanced features such as Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse (ARFI) and compatibility with Silicon Transducers positioning it as a future proof system for the evolving ultrasound environment.
Dr. Grant Baxter, Consultant Radiologist at Western Infirmary states, "We were extremely pleased with our Antares system but the S2000 has an edge, delivering superb resolution and image quality. For example, the Cadence imaging technology is very useful for lesion detection and characterisation. Over the coming months, we are looking forward to expanding its functionality including using the system to measure liver stiffness."
"We are delighted that Western Infirmary has installed the first ACUSON S2000 and is already experiencing the benefits. It is a next generation system designed to be future proof and provide the most advanced functionality to assist clinicians in their vital daily roles," said Andrew Pattison, Director of Diagnostic Ultrasound & Women's Health at Siemens.
The S2000 is the first of a new generation of premier ultrasound products from Siemens. It is ergonomically designed for user and patient comfort plus offers extensive functionality such as 'Virtual Touch imaging', 'Virtual Touch quantification' and 'eSie Touch elasticity imaging.' These strain imaging applications provide qualitative and quantitative assessment of tissue stiffness to assist diagnosis.
