BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood issued the following statement following the release of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) revised Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals:

"As public dialogue continues over the proper ethical standards guiding interactions between biotechnology innovators and pharmaceutical companies with healthcare professionals, we believe PhRMA's release of its revised Code is an important contribution to this ongoing dialogue.

"BIO and our member companies remain dedicated to the advancement of medical science and the improvement of patient care. In pursuing this mission, we recognize that adherence to strict ethical standards and compliance with applicable laws is critical to our industry's ability to continue our collaboration with healthcare professionals and maintain the trust of patients. To that end, we and our member companies continue to encourage the highest standards for ethical business practices and socially responsible industry conduct related to company interactions with healthcare professionals.

"We look forward to continuing to help guide efforts to ensure our member companies adhere to the highest ethical standards."
