Elsevier and the Alzheimer's Association announced that Alzheimer's & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer's Association (http://www.alzheimersanddementia.org/) has been selected for inclusion in MEDLINE. MEDLINE (http://www.pubmed.gov) is the premier bibliographic database of the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), MEDLINE contains over 16 million journal article citations, with a concentration on biomedicine.

"The entire Editorial Board and I are extremely pleased that Alzheimer's & Dementia is being added to the MEDLINE journal collection so soon after its launch in 2005," Alzheimer's & Dementia Editor Zaven Khachaturian, PhD, commented. "Inclusion in this prominent database signals recognition of the journal's scientific merit and contribution to the field of Alzheimer's research. More importantly, MEDLINE indexing will help researchers and other interested parties worldwide to locate articles published in Alzheimer's & Dementia."

As the official journal of the Alzheimer's Association, the peer-reviewed Alzheimer's & Dementia is distributed bimonthly to members of the Association's International Society to Advance Alzheimer Research and Treatment (ISTAART), as well as other subscribers and libraries. Alzheimer's & Dementia addresses challenging issues facing researchers, clinicians and health policymakers on topics from healthy brain aging to all forms of dementia. Unlike other journals in the field, Alzheimer's & Dementia brings together breakthrough research and new thinking across diverse areas of investigation. This interdisciplinary journal provides the impetus for new scientific initiatives and offers probing, thought-provoking studies, articles and reviews from the leading minds in the field.

"With Alzheimer's research increasingly garnering international attention and interest, it is critical for clinicians and investigators in this interdisciplinary field to have the most cutting edge, authoritative information available," said William Thies, PhD, Vice President for Medical & Scientific Relations at the Alzheimer's Association. "Progress is being made, and we are beginning to reap the benefits of scientific advancements made in the last two decades. But we must move the field forward more quickly for the benefit of the millions now with Alzheimer's, their caregivers and family members. Alzheimer's & Dementia can play an important role in doing that."

As publishing partners, the Alzheimer's Association and Elsevier are delighted that researchers and practitioners worldwide can now easily find the valuable information offered in Alzheimer's & Dementia through MEDLINE.
