Marchers Demand AIDS Testing And Treatment As Mexico City AIDS Conference Convenes

Thousands of AIDS advocates crowded the streets of Mexico City in a multinational march and rally, spearheaded by AIDS Healthcare Foundation, to demand "Universal AIDS Action Now."
In a spirited march that began at Plaza de la Revolucion and progressed to the Zocalo Plaza advocates called for increased access to HIV testing and lifesaving antiretroviral AIDS drugs. Afterwards, key march leaders traveled to the Nacionale Auditorio where they presented the 'Mexico City Manifesto 2008' to senior IAS conference officials just prior to the official ceremonies of the XVII International AIDS Conference, where Mexican President Felipe Calderon is giving the keynote address.
