Asthma UK Scotland is offering adventurous types the chance to abseil, SAS-style, 165ft from the Forth Rail Bridge - and raise some much-needed funds at the same time.

As part of its celebrations to mark its 15th birthday, the charity has secured a number of places for the abseil on Sunday, 5 October.

Shona Haslam, National Director at Asthma UK Scotland, says:

'This really is an exciting opportunity for an amazing experience in a truly wonderful setting. No previous experience is necessary as a team of expert abseiling instructors will be on hand to talk participants through the whole process including how to control the speed of your descent. Fast or slow - it's up to you!'

Haslam continues: 'Asthma is serious - every 16 minutes a child is admitted to hospital due to an asthma attack and a person dies every seven hours as a result of asthma. Through further research and education about asthma management we can help improve these figures and the lives of people with asthma.

'That's why we hope this unique experience will help us help the 390,000 people in Scotland with asthma.'

The minimum age limit is sixteen, and those under eighteen require the consent of their parent or guardian before they may participate - there is no maximum age limit!
