"Health Tracking Poll: Election 2008," Kaiser Family Foundation: The poll found that one-quarter of U.S. residents see paying for health care as a "serious problem," with those in the poorest health and the uninsured reporting greater difficulty. Twenty-four percent of Americans ranked health care as a "serious problem," compared with 37% who said paying for gas is a "serious problem," 26% who said getting a good paying job or raise in pay, 18% who said paying for food, 16% who said problems with debt and 15% who said paying the rent or mortgage. In addition, the poll found that 42% of people believe that Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) represents their own personal views on health care compared with 25% who said the same for Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) (Kaiser Family Foundation release, 8/19).
