Mobile Doctors announces new dates for its 'Excellence in Report Writing' training in response to demand from GPs and specialists.
Mobile Doctors, one of the UK's leading providers of medical evidence, is pleased to announce a host of new dates for its 'Excellence in Report Writing' courses, which provide training to General Practitioners (GPs) and specialists in how to compile medico-legal reports and give evidence in court.
The first date announced is 17 September 2008, with the course being held at the Groves Medical Centre in New Malden, Surrey. On 23 October 2008 a course will also be running in Manchester.
The company which has over 2,500 doctors on its books, all providing medical reports and appearing in court to give evidence in personal injury, medical negligence, employer and public liability cases amongst others, has been running training courses for over two years.
Dr. Ubogu Emamoke, who attended a recent course, commented: "I found the course very useful. It was both interesting and stimulating, and attending has made me more confident about preparing medico-legal reports. I would recommend that anybody looking to get involved in any aspect of medico-legal work signs-up. The course has something to offer any expert, irrespective of their level of experience."
The course provides practical exercises including writing reports, reviewing and critiquing completed cases, and encourages discussions around what makes the perfect report as well as how experts and reports fit into the litigation process.
Tricia Livett, course leader, commented: "Feedback from delegates is always extremely positive. There is widespread agreement amongst GPs and specialists that the importance of completing medical reports to a high standard is paramount, and knowing how to do so effectively, as well as give evidence in court, is important for GPs and specialists in their busy and often hectic lives."
The course run by Mobile Doctors, supported by legal training consultancy Bond Solon, covers topics from what an expert witness is, what is required from them in the courtroom, practical exercises reviewing good and bad reporting, and group discussions to exchange best practice.
Dr. Sydney Scott, who attended a training course in July, said: "I found this one-day course relevant, focused and well-planned. The leader made us all comfortable and encouraged an environment where we were all able to exchange experiences and tips. The talks were set at the right level and everyone felt involved, and the group tasks were not only great fun, but instructive too."
