Healthcare Performance Strategies (HPS), a physician-led consulting firm focused on assisting hospitals in improving delivery of anesthesia services, mitigating the impact of anesthesia subsidies and enhancing performance and profitability in the operating room, today announced the release of its unique HPS Anesthesia Satisfaction Tool.

Part of the company's new suite of surveys and measurement tools, the fully automated, Web-based HPS Anesthesia Satisfaction Tool captures input from surgeons with a brief five minute survey. Results are instantly compiled and readily accessible online as either an easy to use dashboard or detailed results page. Performance on each question is trended over four quarters, while results for the current quarter are benchmarked against peers. As the first survey focused specifically on surgical satisfaction with anesthesia services, the HPS Anesthesia Satisfaction Tool offers hospital leaders direct insight into a key driver of surgical caseload and local market share.

"Surgeon perception of quality and responsiveness should be a key metric used to measure the service being delivered by anesthesia groups," explained Robert Stiefel, M.D., principal of HPS. "Our anesthesia satisfaction survey empowers hospital administrations to quickly identify problem areas and evaluate performance compared to their peer facilities and may even be utilized as a component of the performance incentive portion of anesthesia subsidy agreements."

In addition to systematically measuring anesthesia performance, the HPS Anesthesia Satisfaction Tool delivers real-time updates and the ability to easily monitor key anesthesia group clinical and customer service skills and place these indicators instantly at an administration's fingertips. Surgeon satisfaction with the responsiveness and quality of anesthesia care is often cited as a factor determining the choice of facility where operative cases are performed. The HPS suite of anesthesia surveys and measurement tools offers easy to use, benchmarked and real-time insight into the satisfaction of a hospital's surgeons with the performance of its anesthesia group in the operating room.
