Dr Peter Coleman, Deputy Director of Research at The Stroke Association comments:

"Atrial Fibrillation is an important risk factor for stroke and is responsible for around 15% of all strokes. The use of an anti-arrhythmic drug, such as dronedarone opens up exciting possibilities, highlighted by this new analysis. It is very encouraging that dronedarone appears to be effective in reducing stroke risk in patients with Atrial Fibrillation."
