Hundreds of families, assisted in having children at Advanced Fertility & Reproductive Endocrinology Institute in Columbia, SC, joined clinic founder, Dr. Gail Whitman-Elia in a celebration of life September 7 at Columbia's Riverbanks Zoo.

The popular yearly event is an opportunity for patients to reunite with renowned reproductive physician Dr. Whitman-Elia while also having fellowship time with other parents of children, many born with the assistance of the latest in vitro fertilization therapies at the Columbia fertility center.

"Every birth is special," says Whitman-Elia, "but seeing so many of the families, in one place, makes this a very special day for me personally. It is my high privilege to play a role in helping these parents achieve what they wanted so badly, a child of their own."

Unlike the fertility "mega-centers", Dr. Whitman-Elia is the sole physician at her Columbia fertility clinic, a "boutique" practice. That means every patient receives the personal, compassionate attention she has become known for.

Utilizing the latest medical therapies, this former professor of medicine has established a practice noted for a high standard of care.

"Our entire team is focused on one thing," says Dr. Whitman-Elia, "making our patients comfortable and getting them pregnant. There's nothing like that call when we get to tell a patient the fabulous news that they have finally conceived."

Many Advanced Fertility patients have been through a number of other treatments and some have all but given up hope before turning to Dr. Whitman-Elia and her talented staff at the Columbia fertility clinic. In fact, some patients have even been turned away by other clinics and have gone on to achieve successful pregnancies under the skilled care of Whitman-Elia.

"It gives our entire team a great sense of pride that our boutique practice regularly performs at a high level for our patients. What that means to us is that you do not have to sacrifice compassionate care, in a more intimate setting, in order to achieve quality rates for successful pregnancies," she says.

But on this warm Columbia Sunday, it was all about the celebration of the miracle of birth and the loving families that received new hope and then a new child under the expertise of a caring physician.

Advanced Fertility, a South Caroliina fertility clinic, offers a full range of fertility therapies including IVF, donor egg, TESE, genetic diagnostics and much more.
