The NHS National Library for Health Specialist Library for Surgery, Theatres and Anaesthesia provides the latest quality assured evidence-based guidance for all theatre staff supporting the patient through perioperative care. The Specialist Library has just published the first Annual Evidence Update (AEU) on the 'Surgical Management of Faecal Incontinence' to coincide with National Continence Awareness week 15th - 19th September 2008.
NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) guidance on faecal incontinence was published in June 2007 based on literature published prior to October 2006. Therefore this AEU highlights relevant, good quality evidence published from October 2006 onwards focusing specifically on surgical management (including sacral nerve modulation, biofeedback and implants as advised by our surgical reviewers).
This evidence update is available from the Specialist Library's home page: http://www.library.nhs.uk/theatres
