The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is pleased to announce its partnership with ABC's Frosted Pink with a Twist, a unique television special that will bring together the 2008 US women's Olympic gymnasts with today's top music stars and a host of celebrities to raise awareness of cancers primarily affecting women.

This year in the US nearly 261,000 women will be diagnosed with breast, cervical, endometrial, ovarian, vaginal, or vulvar cancers, and an estimated 69,000 women will die from these diseases. "ACOG is proud to be part of the Frosted Friends network because our specialty is deeply concerned about the state of women's cancers," said Douglas H. Kirkpatrick, MD, ACOG president. "Frosted Pink with a Twist's message of education and advocacy is one that we believe strongly resonates among our specialty.

"Ob-gyns recognize the benefits of prevention and early detection and raising public awareness of gynecologic cancers is a key to success," added Dr. Kirkpatrick. "ACOG is committed to doing all we can to educate and inspire women to become better advocates for their own health."

As a Frosted Friend, ACOG joins a prestigious coalition of women's organizations dedicated to spreading the word about this unique public health education initiative. "ACOG will be instrumental in helping our message reach an unprecedented number of women across the country," noted Mike Berg, CEO of Edge Marketing and producer of Frosted Pink with a Twist. "We are thrilled to have ACOG on board as a Frosted Friend so we can educate as we entertain."

All proceeds from Frosted Pink with a Twist will support the fight against women's cancers. For more information on Frosted Pink with a Twist visit http://www.frostedpink.org.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is the national medical organization representing over 52,000 members who provide health care for women.
