Wiley-Blackwell, the scientific, technical, medical and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc (NYSE: JWa), (NYSE: JWb), today announced that it will be publishing a new psychiatry journal titled Asia-Pacific Psychiatry focused on the Asia and Pacific Rim region. The journal will be the official journal of the Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists, and will offer a unique range of content that will enable psychiatrists and other mental health professionals in the region to share their research, educational programs and clinical experience with a larger international readership.
Asia-Pacific Psychiatry will seek to enable psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to share their research, educational programs, and clinical experience with a larger international readership. As a venue for high-quality research for and from the region, the journal will publish peer-reviewed articles, reviews and findings that highlight best practices and the diversity in psychiatric treatment and outcomes related to social, ethnic, cultural, and economic differences of the region.
Besides focusing on research outputs within countries from Asia and the Pacific Rim, the inclusion of images, videos, young psychiatrists' corners, meeting reports, a clinical case conference, and contextual commentaries are key differentiators that serve to distinguish this journal from existing main stream psychiatry research journals - making it a distinctive international journal of its genre.
Asia-Pacific Psychiatry will be launched at the annual 13th Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists Scientific Meeting in Tokyo (30 October - 2 November 2008), and will publish four issues a year starting in summer 2009 - both in print and online at http://www3.interscience.wiley.com .
"Wiley-Blackwell is pleased to partner with a society of such high caliber. We look forward to supporting the Pacific Rim College of Psychiatry's mission of advancing the knowledge of psychiatry and delivering the most important must-have content and research to the international mental health communities", said Neil Christensen, Medical Editorial Director for Wiley-Blackwell, Asia Pacific.
Edited by Professors EH Kua and E Chiu, and A Tasman, and with the support of a large and diverse editorial board, Asia-Pacific Psychiatry will be the venue for top quality clinical, education, and research articles for and from the region, particularly in the face of minimal international publication availability for psychiatry researchers and practitioners in the region.
Professors Kua, Chiu, and Tasman noted, "We are delighted to be publishing with Wiley-Blackwell - their publishing expertise and vast international networks will go far in developing and meeting the objectives of our editorial board."
"We look forward to working with Wiley-Blackwell to communicate future exciting discoveries to the world's clinical and academic communities, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals."
