Today Mortara Instrument announced receipt of a Frost & Sullivan Award for its incorporation of DICOM ECG into the company's diagnostic ECG modalities. In selecting Mortara Instrument for this award, Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Gideon Kumar commented, "Frost & Sullivan bestows the 2008 European Diagnostic Cardiovascular Monitoring Equipment Product Line Strategy Award to Mortara Instrument in recognition of the company's ability to garner a highly competitive position in the market through successful integration of the ECG waveforms and with the hospital information system using DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine)."

Mortara has led a growing group of industry leaders supporting use of the DICOM standard for ECG. Adoption of DICOM ECG changes the paradigm of proprietary communications protocols and hardware that is commonplace in diagnostic electrocardiography. With DICOM, no proprietary communication protocols are used, protecting the customer from device obsolescence and decoupling the choice of information management solution from device solution.

Dr. Justin Mortara, CEO of Mortara Instrument, commented, "On behalf of Mortara, I am pleased to accept this award. Our company is dedicated to creating best in class diagnostic ECG devices. By supporting the DICOM standard within our devices, we give our customers the freedom to link Mortara diagnostic ECG devices to any DICOM ECG compliant information system. By giving customers a choice, we are seeing quick adoption of DICOM ECG worldwide."
