MyCareTeam has announced that through a relationship with The Barton Center for Diabetes Education that its popular diabetes management software product, MCT-Diabetes, will be used extensively going forward with the management of its campers at the Barton Camp in Oxford, MA and the Joslin Camp in Charlton, MA.

MCT-Diabetes, recently cleared by the FDA, guides people with diabetes to make the required behavioral and medication changes supported by frequent feedback and input from caregivers. At programs sponsored by both the Clara Barton and Camp Joslin camps, campers used MCT-Diabetes software to keep track of their glucose levels before, during, and after they attended camp.

Each camper had the opportunity to upload their meter to the software before they arrived at camp, enabling staff members to review individual medical records ahead of time and create an individualized plan. While camp was in session, the campers and staff were able to upload glucose readings to a secure database that enabled the camper's medical team and family to remotely manage the camper from any location. Once camp officially ended, each child continues to use MCT-Diabetes at home to keep track of his or her glucose levels.

"Using MCT-Diabetes has put us in a fantastic position where we can be a model for all diabetic camps, becoming less reliant on paper and more up to date with technological interventions," said Bonny Huston, RN BSN, of The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Inc. "We believe this system will help us improve our record keeping and allow for us to share our camper's information with their healthcare team once they leave camp. This is an interactive CareTeam system that our campers can take with them to assist with their diabetes management throughout the year."

MCT-Diabetes supports all of the major glucose meters on the market. The product offers a unique and personalized way to share and monitor blood glucose levels, keeping track of medications, logging blood pressure, tracking lab results, and building and maintaining an exercise log. The product also allows people with diabetes to invite individuals into their health-management support circle, and provides an interactive method for receiving feedback in the form of charts and graphs.

"MCT-Diabetes has been shown in clinical trials to improve blood glucose levels and lower HbA1c levels," said Jim Mingle, CEO of MyCareTeam, Inc. "The Barton Center's roll-out of MCT-Diabetes is an innovative example of how diabetes camping organizations can work with a behavior management tool like MCT-Diabetes to improve the overall safety of their campers and at that same time give each camper access to a tool that can help educate them on how to make changes based on results."

MyCareTeam recently announced integration of MCT-Diabetes with Google Health. Google Health allows consumers to enter and maintain their own medical data and electronically send that information to systems, which are connected to Google Health. MyCareTeam's diabetes management software, MCT-Diabetes, integrated with Google Health, will allow consumers to securely transfer diabetes related information to and from the Google Health medical data repository. The data can be transferred to any other medical applications that are also integrated with Google Health.

MCT-Diabetes is available to wellness programs, consumers and health professionals directly from MyCareTeam and select distribution channels. Monthly and yearly subscriptions are available. Visit http://www.mycareteam.com for more information.
