The USDA has presented the Delaware Industries for the Blind (DIB) an award for providing the Food Safety and Inspection Service high quality goods and services in a professional and responsive manner.

In a ceremony held June 25, 2008 in the Jamie L. Whitten Building in Washington, a plaque was presented to DIB representatives LaKeesha Briscoe and Evelyn Haley by USDA Secretary Ed Schafer. DIB provided a variety of products to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), including laptop cases, plaques, travel bags, embroidered jackets and shirts. The award description from the USDA stated the products: "...were always of high quality, met requirements and were delivered timely. DIB provided the FSIS Administrator's Excellence Awards under an extremely stringent timeline."

According to Division for the Visually Impaired Director Cynthia Lovell, the Delaware Industries for the Blind has been working hard to increase its visibility by advertising the wide range of services and products available to both government agencies and the public at large. "I am extremely proud of the quality services provided by DIB and the employment opportunity it allows for over 50 blind or visually impaired Delawareans,"said Lovell.

DIB (and its parent organization the Division for the Visually Impaired) is celebrating nearly 100 years of successful partnership with business and government agencies. Programs operated include the custom product line including: award plaques, certificate plaques, embroidered branch of service briefcases, employee recognition items, and promotional items. In addition, DIB manages switchboard operators, data entry, screen printing, engraving, embroidery, custom framing, gift baskets, production, assembly and janitorial services.
