The Florida Department of Health (DOH) announces that Florida has recently joined 48 other states to become the newest member of 3RNet, a nationally recognized rural recruitment and retention network that assists states with the recruitment of health professionals for rural and underserved areas.

Florida's membership in 3RNet will provide a common web portal (http://www.3rnet.org/) for health care practitioners nationwide to identify opportunities in Florida's rural and underserved communities. It will also allow community organizations such as county health departments, community health centers, hospitals and others that are seeking physicians, dentists, nurses, mental health, EMS and allied health professionals to post information about specific job opportunities on a central site.

Florida's membership in 3RNet is sponsored by the DOH Office of Rural Health whose responsibilities include promoting the location and relocation of health care practitioners in rural areas. The Office of Rural Health is working in cooperation with the DOH Office of Health Professional Recruitment whose staff will develop and maintain Florida's page on the 3RNet website. Florida's site is currently under development and is expected to become fully active in October.

Persons interested in becoming a candidate for consideration may register at http://www.3rnet.org/candidates/. Facilities or organizations seeking to list a position vacancy may register at http://www.3rnet.org/facilities/.

DOH promotes, protects and improves the health of all people in Florida. For more information about the Office of Rural Health and the Office of Health Professional Recruitment, visit the DOH website at http://www.doh.state.fl.us/tobacco/index.html.
