Operating Department Practitioner Struck Off For Assaulting A Colleague, UK

Operating department practitioner Lloyd Subner has been struck of the HPC Register for assaulting a colleague while employed by Kings College Hospital NHS Trust.

A panel of the HPC Conduct and Competence Committee found that on 12 December 2006, Mr Subner threw a box of intravenous fluids at a female colleague and swore at her.

Mr Subner denied the allegations and was not present at the hearing held in London. The panel heard evidence from the victim of the assault and two other witnesses.

Panel Chair Mr Colin Allies commented:

"The Panel was satisfied that behaviour of this nature is entirely unacceptable and would cause members of the public to lack confidence in a professional who committed it. Mr Subner has not accepted the facts of what he did or that what he did was wrong. The Panel was therefore satisfied that his fitness to practise is impaired."

The panel decided to strike Lloyd Subner from the Register.
