The NPA Interact Course for Medicines Counter Assistants (University Interact) has been adapted and is now included as a part of the undergraduate teaching for first year pharmacy students at Brighton University - a UK first. The theory learned at University will ease entry into the world of pharmacy when students apply their knowledge in term time placements and summer jobs.

Sukhjit Grewal, NPA Head of Education and Training said: "University Interact is designed for pharmacy students who will have a role in supplying medicines in community pharmacy. It will provide a sound base for helping students understand front line pharmacy. This is a win-win situation for our members and pharmacy students - we are delighted to be involved."

Angela MacAdam, Principal Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice, Brighton University said: "We are very excited about working with the NPA in this innovative programme. It will help bring real world issues into the pharmacy undergraduate course, giving them a solid foundation for understanding community pharmacy."

Trevor Gore, Pharmacy Development Manager, Reckitt-Benckiser said: "Reckitts have been the sponsor of NPA Interact for many years, and are also actively involved in the majority of Pre-Reg programmes, so we are delighted to be part of this latest venture. Helping pharmacy students implement their knowledge in 'real world' situations has many obvious advantages for the students, the pharmacy school and ultimately the patients. A true win-win-win situation."
