New York - On October 18, 2008, Parkway Hospital, in conjunction with St. John's Hospital of Queens and Mary Immaculate Hospital, will coordinate a drill that will test hospitals and first responders' ability to deal with a mass casualty incident involving a radiation dispersal device, otherwise known as a 'dirty bomb'.

The drill will include mass decontamination of those exposed to the 'dirty bomb', as well as the logistics involved in the treatment and removal of victims.

Parkway Hospital determined to spearhead this initiative because its leadership believes that, in the event of a catastrophe, local community resources must band together. Local police precincts, community organizations, and other first responders will also be involved.
