DIA Congress To Explore Regional Perspectives And Future Trends In Clinical Research In Latin America
Main Category: Pharma Industry / Biotech IndustryArticle Date: 20 Oct 2008 - 2:00 PDT
Representatives from international regulatory agencies, industry, and academia will meet in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 20-21 at the Drug Information Association's (DIA's) 5th Latin American Congress of Clinical Research.
Many factors have contributed to the increased number of clinical trials being conducted throughout Latin America. The region has a large number of naive patients, qualified investigators, established regulatory systems and reasonable costs, well-established multinational pharmaceutical bases, and an expansive pharmaceutical regional market.
Co-sponsored by SAMEFA, this annual congress will provide a neutral forum to discuss regional perspectives and future trends in clinical research in Latin America, including:
-- Challenges in protocol designs
-- Drug safety risk management
-- Bioavailability (BA) and bioequivalence (BE) studies
-- Technology tools in clinical research
-- Clinical trials in vulnerable patient populations
-- Outsourcing clinical trials in Latin America
-- Logistics of clinical trials in Latin America
-- Practical aspects in the implementation of clinical trials
-- Pharmacogenetic/pharmacogenomic studies
-- Regulatory framework and future trends for clinical trials in Latin America
-- Pediatric clinical trials in Latin America
Ronald Fitzmartin, DIA Immediate Past President, will deliver the keynote address: Trends in Global Clinical Trials--The Role of the Emerging Markets.
