The Committee on the Safety of Devices is looking for candidates to replace The Chair, one lay member and 12 specialist members with current experience in one of the following fields:

-- Accident and Emergency Medicine
-- Cardiology
-- Clinical Chemistry
-- Dentistry
-- General Medicine (preferably with an interest in renal medicine/dialysis)
-- General Practice
-- Microbiology/Infection Control
-- Obstetrics and Gynaecology
-- Ophthalmology
-- Professions allied to medicine
-- Plastic Surgery
-- Radiology

This committee supports the work of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (Devices) by providing independent expert input and advice on a wide range of aspects relating to medical devices to help ensure the safe use and management of medical devices across the Health Service.

If you are interested in applying for one of these posts, an information pack and application form can be obtained from the Appointments Commission.

Reminder: the deadline for applications is 29 October 2008.
