The report found that the Fair Access to Care Services (FACS) system was far from 'fair' and called for wide-sweeping change.

This report confirms that the Fair Access to Care Services system is broken and crumbling. Despite government policy moving towards prevention and supporting people with low level needs, local authorities are being forced to leave hundreds of thousands of people without help.

We need to scrap FACS and replace it with a system that gives more people with dementia the opportunity to live in their own homes for longer. People also need better access to information and help to navigate a complex and confusing care system.

The numbers of people living with dementia are set to rise to more than a million in less than 20 years. The new national allocation system must work for people with dementia and their carers.
