Information designers at the Stuttgart Media University have confirmed that Bayer's Contour® blood glucose meter is very reliable and intuitive to use. This is especially important for medical devices, according to the researchers, as incorrect use could have serious consequences. In a scientific review, they tested 14 blood glucose meters for ease of use and found huge differences.

In the study, the meters were first tested by users and then evaluated by experts. Only two devices proved easy to use in the test, one of which was Contour® from Bayer. It guaranteed reliable measurement in only a few steps and had a large, easy-to-read display, according to researcher Maike Reichel. She recommends that diabetics and doctors should give careful consideration to their choice of blood glucose meter. With blood glucose meters, it must be obvious what each button is for, so that the device can be operated correctly by people with diabetes. The Contour® blood glucose meter was the winner in the April 2007 Stiftung Warentest test because of its ease of use and reliable test results. The successor model launched in September this year also has additional storage and alarm functions which make measuring even easier.
