Linguistic techniques could be useful for assessing communications problems in people with dementia.
Examining a person's diary could give valuable insight into how a person's communication skills have changed over time and help with diagnosis.
Harold Wilson's speeches may be part of political history, but they could form an important part of our current battle against dementia. One in three people over 65 will die with dementia, yet there is no efficient way of diagnosing the condition. We look forward to further research into potential linguistic markers for dementia.
