Uk - The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is to help increase the numbers of family doctors in Dubai.
RCGP President, Dr Roger Neighbour, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr Adnan Abdulkarim Julfar, Director of Primary Health Care in Dubai. The RCGP will assist in developing academic links and examination boards, increasing the number of family doctor trainers and help organise GP educational exchanges between the UK and Dubai.
Dr Roger Neighbour, RCGP President said: "Quality primary care is essential for any country. We are honoured that Dubai has chosen to work with the RCGP to promote family medicine in their country."
Dr Julfar added, "The Government of Dubai is looking very enthusiastically at the disciplines of British medicine, with family medicine as the priority. With the RCGPs' help we hope to boost the number of Government-funded family doctors to look after the people of Dubai."
There are currently 180 Government-funded and 211 private family doctors in Dubai. The RCGP International Committee works with many countries around the world including Kosovo, Brazil and Bangladesh
