Breathe, a brand new journal from the European Respiratory Society and the European Respiratory Society School, is releasing its first issue during the 14th Annual Congress in Glasgow.
This Journal represents a new initiative: the objective is to bring high-quality educational material to the European Respiratory Society's members and other interested readers.
For the respiratory physician with mainly clinical work, allied health personnel and respiratory paediatricians whose work is primarily clinical, Breathe will provide valuable help in keeping up to date in the various fields of respiratory medicine.
It will contain high-quality review articles, interesting and intriguing case reports, reviews of recently published scientific articles in the manner of the European Respiratory Topic and material for self study and self-evaluation.
Breathe will never aim to compete with the Society's high-quality scientific journal, the European Respiratory Journal, but strives to make the rich educational resources of ERS School available for more members.
It will become a journal for the many participants at the Annual Congress who attend mainly out of educational rather than scientific interest.
Moreover, Breathe aims to present its contents in an easy and colourful layout, with numerous illustrations, so as to be easily readable and accessible.
As in its first issue, Breathe will contain review articles on central topics, clinical case reports for learning and training, technical reviews, imaging case reports and short evaluative reports from major published scientific articles in order to facilitate easy, rapid access to such articles for the interested reader. Breathe will also present items from the rich and composite learning and teaching material generated through the activities of the ERS School.
"We hope that Breathe will become an important resource for the members of the European Respiratory Society" said Kai-Håkon Carlsen, ERS School Chair, at the Congress in Glasgow.
