National Pharmacy Association Urges Members To Take Part In White Paper Legislation Consultation, UK
Main Category: Pharmacy / PharmacistArticle Date: 18 Nov 2008 - 2:00 PST
The NPA has written to all members in England to urge them to submit an individual response to the current Department of Health consultation about the legislation required to effect structural changes underpinning the Pharmacy in England White Paper.
The NPA is making corporate formal representation but asked members to submit individual responses which could together influence the outcome - the added volume of response conveys a message in itself. Members who wished to could use the NPA's draft response as a basis - posted on the members' area of the NPA website.
NPA Chief Executive, John Turk, said: "The NPA welcomed the Pharmacy in England White Paper as a 'statement of faith in community pharmacy', when the Department of Health published it in the Spring. We emphasised at that time, though, that the detail of the proposals would be at least as important as the spirit behind them. I have encouraged members to make their own submissions to the Department of Health as the greater the number of submissions the greater the strength of the message."
The NPA has also been attending the White Paper Listening Events held as part of the Department's consultation process.
The consultation runs until 20 November 2008. Submissions may be made via PWPCONS@dh.gsi.gov.uk or posted to Gillian Farnfield, Department of Health, Medicines Pharmacy and Industry Group, Area 453D, Skipton House, 80 London Road, London SE1 6LH.
Members wishing to give feedback to the NPA on its response to this consultation, or indeed on any aspect of the NPA's representational programme, may do so via communications@npa.co.uk or by contacting their NPA Board Representative at boardmember@npa.co.uk.
