Just under a hundred NPA members are now offering the NPA and Allergy UK Allergy Screening Service. The service which has been recently remodelled to include a "pin prick" test as well as a screen was the subject of radio interviews conducted by regional and local stations across England last week. NPA members were able to give an account of the service in action, highlighting how community pharmacy was improving access to allergy screening. The NPA's Chief Pharmacist Colette McCreedy was on hand in a studio in London to explain the significance to this service as well as providing a national perspective.
Neal Patel, NPA Head of Communications said: "Allergy Screening from your pharmacy was a compelling story for the media because it gave journalists the opportunity to talk about a topic that affects many peoples' lives. I am delighted so many NPA members offering this service were able to convey to listeners that there is a solution for those looking for a high quality and convenient allergy screen - their community pharmacy."
Sanjay Anand from Westminster Park Pharmacy who spoke on BBC Radio Merseyside said: "This has been an excellent opportunity to let a wider audience know about the pharmacy's allergy screening service. I must admit to a few nerves, but the interview turned out to be a very positive experience."
