Main Category: Nursing / MidwiferyArticle Date: 18 Nov 2008 - 9:00 PST
The Australian Nursing Federation warmly welcomed Lynne Geri as the new President of the National Enrolled Nurses of Australia (NENA).
"Lynne comes with much experience; she has been a nurse for 22 years and currently works in rehabilitation at Bendigo Health. She has just been reappointed to the Nurses Board of Victoria and is the only enrolled nurse on the Board for the Royal College of Nursing, Australia as well having been an active member of the ANF Vic Branch for 15 years."
Ms Geri, who was elected unopposed, said she would bring a fresh approach to NENA to ensure the voice of the enrolled nurse is heard.
"I know my experience will benefit the association by ensuring that our voice is heard."
"We have a proactive NENA executive and our main goals are to increase NENA and ANF membership, highlight the need to enhance our post graduate courses, and increase recognition of the essential contribution the enrolled nurse makes to Australia's rapidly changing health care environment."
The ANF, representing nearly 170,000 members, is the professional and industrial voice for nurses and midwives in Australia.
