Main Category: Respiratory / AsthmaArticle Date: 21 Nov 2008 - 3:00 PDT
The Lung Association today released the following statement in response to the 2008 Speech from the Throne:
The Lung Association is pleased to see the government's Throne Speech commitment to improving the lung health of Canadians.
Approximately 6 million people in Canada struggle with asthma, COPD, lung cancer and other lung diseases. The fact that the government has recognized how critical it is to improve the lung health of Canadians is excellent news and a clear sign that they wish to continue partnering on building a Canada free of lung disease.
The Lung Association and its respiratory health partners nationwide look forward to working with the government, and all Parliamentarians, to ensure that the National Lung Health Framework - Canada's first national action plan to combat lung disease - is fully funded and implemented over the course of this government's mandate.
Today is a proud day for the millions of Canadians who want to see Canada a world leader in the fight against lung disease.
