Action For Brain Injury Week
Main Category: Neurology / NeuroscienceArticle Date: 24 Nov 2008 - 5:00 PDT
The date and theme for Action for Brain Injury Week 2009 have been announced. This year, cyclists of all ages will be encouraged to wear helmets as part of the awareness-raising week, which will take place between 11-17 May.
The use of cycle helmets is a contentious issue, with many people seeing them as unnecessary, awkward and unfashionable. However, as many Headway service users will testify, helmets can save lives. With the cost of travelling increasing, it is likely the number of people taking to their bikes instead of their cars will increase.
As a pro-cycling organisation, Headway would welcome any such trend. However, with more people taking to the roads on bicycles, there's even greater need to promote vital safety messages. A wide range of national and local activity will take place during the week along with celebrations to mark Headway's 30th anniversary.
Further details will be announced on our Action for Brain Injury Week page in Get Involved/Events & Conferences in the near future, or you can contact our helpline if you have any questions.
