The Federation of Holistic Therapists, the UK's leading and largest professional association is inviting all healthcare professionals including doctors, nurses, complementary health practitioners and counsellors to the 2009 Holistic Healthcare Conference.
"Adopting an holistic approach within the healthcare environment" is the theme of the 2009 conference which has been organised by education and training company Ethos and supported by the FHT. The conference will take place on the 14th March 2009 from 9.30am until 4pm at Durham University.
This one day conference will explore and challenge belief systems related to the paradigm that the body is the sum of its parts and these can be analysed and adjusted in order to improve human health. The programme will focus on understanding health from different perspectives. Multi-cultural and metaphysical influences on health will be explored together with the adoption of a holistic post-cartesian approach to health within the healthcare environment.
The topics covered are both informative and thought provoking, by invited speakers who are experts in the field. The topics are..
- Understanding health and disease processes from an orthodox perspective, by Jill Church, Community Matron
- Exploring multi-cultural approaches to health, Dr Dorothy Hannis, Medical Anthropologist
- Identifying metaphysical influences on health, Tim Edwards, Metaphysicist
- Adopting an holistic approach to health within the healthcare environment, Gwyn Featonby, Head of Complementary Therapies, Butterwick Hospice
Commenting upon the Holistic Healthcare Conference, Christine Fisk, Director of Ethos says: "The 2009 conference provides a platform for exploring what makes us ill and who will make us better; it is ideal for anyone who has an interest in health and wellbeing. Melanie Prince, Marketing Manager at the FHT says "We have worked hard this year to put on a cost-effective course with a panel of industry experts who can talk about the most recent developments in their field. Already we have people booked to come along and I am urging people to book early as numbers are limited."
The conference is priced at £55 for FHT members and £110 for non-members. For further information or to book your place call FHT events on 023 8062 4350 (option 3) or visit the FHT website at http://www.fht.org.uk/education.
