The European Association of Urology (EAU) is continuously working on the promotion of urology and the work of the urologist among the general public and medical specialists. This way it hopes to create more awareness of and appreciation for urological conditions in Europe.

A new EAU initiative is the posting of several 'Surgery in motion' DVDs on YouTube. These DVDs are published together with European Urology, the official journal of the EAU. European Urology has been a respected urological forum for over 20 years, and is currently read by more than 9,000 urologists across the globe. With an impact factor of 5.634, the journal has become the leading scientific publication in the field of urology.

The 'Surgery in Motion' DVDs provide surgeons with a channel to demonstrate both new and common surgical techniques applied to various interventions. The contributions selected for these DVDs come from the most experienced surgeons and recognised institutions around the world. The videos on YouTube explain and demonstrate several of the most interesting techniques. This makes it possible for a wider audience to obtain information about the latest techniques in this field.

The first DVD that was selected is entitled 'Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Cystectomy With Extra-Corporeal Urinary Diversion' by D.G. Murphy, B.J. Challacombe, O. Elhage, T.S. O'Brien, P. Rimington, M.S. Khan, P. Dasgupta from the United Kingdom.

On YouTube, these informative EAU DVDs may be found under 'European urology' and 'Surgery in motion'. More videos can be viewed on http://www.urosource.comunder 'Surgery in Motion'.
