Konica Minolta Medical Imaging USA announced today the release of the DRYPRO 873 laser imager, one of the fastest, most compact imagers available today. Engineered for unparallel image stability, the DRYPRO 873 boasts a higher silver ion capacity, an automatic density control function and automatic calibration to produce sharp, stable images. These features make the DRYPRO 873 a perfect solution for digital mammography.

Boasting the world's fastest throughput, the high volume DRYPRO 873 reduces first print to 50 seconds with a capacity to process 180 mixed film sizes per hour. In just four minutes, the imager can print up to ten 14 x 17" sheets. The DRYPRO 873 is fully-compatible with four film sizes ranging from 14 x 17" to 8 x 10" and offers an optional third film supply tray. An optional 6-bin sorter is also available.

User friendliness is the central theme of all Konica Minolta equipment and allows easy, intuitive operation of the DRYPRO 873. Status indicators are visibly recognizable even from a distance while a new design emits less noise for quieter operation.

Implementation of environment-friendly ECO-dry technology translates to a 30% reduction in electricity consumption compared to previous generations.*

Image processing has been further enhanced with an intensity conversion processing feature that automatically recognizes images and executes optimum processing for smooth, sharp images. Fast mass volume processing and excellent density stability - including maximum density of 4.0 for mammography - is possible with a new developing temperature process that pre-heats the film in the early stage of film transfer and reduces unstable temperature areas.

"The development of the DRYPRO 873 was based upon the same high-quality and ease-of-use standards that has earned us the number one rating for our CR System by independent firms and end-users alike," says Ron Batory, Marketing Manager/Conventional Imaging Products. "By focusing on the most demanding imaging application, the DRYPRO 873 is an ideal solution for digital mammography as well as for all CR studies."

*30% reduction in electricity is based upon 8-hour/day printing of 100 sheets.
